On Campus Circuitboard Milling

In house circuitboard milling/printing service is provided for minimal charges to cover the cost of material used for circuitboard.

LPKF ProtoMat 103 is used for milling the circuitboards.

Design Software

Autodesk EAGLE software, which is provided to students free of cost can be used to generate gerber files (.gbr).

To design your schematic and bard, loggon to your ECB account, go to Applications -> Engineering -> Eagle

Once finished with your design, generate/export .gbr file and email the gerber file.

Some Other Softwares

Some other softwares that can be used to generate gerber files are:

OrCAD
Cadence Allegro PCB Designer
KiCad
DipTrace
Or any software that can exports .gbr files

Material Used

Material for Double Sided pcb is FR4 - 59mm, 1oz. Cu.
Material for Single Sided pcb is FR4 - 59mm, 1oz. Cu.

Tools Used

Contour Router: Carbide downdraft contour routers for separating the completed board from a larger panel and for routing cutouts.
Drill Bit: Carbide drill bits for extended tool life and superior drill hole quality. Compliant with multilayer applications. 1.5" (38 mm) overall length. Drill Bits include distance rings for "S" series systems and systems with automatic tool change.
End Mill: 100% Carbide endmill for copper removal by providing straight-sided and flat-bottomed isolation paths with minimal penetration into the substrate. Recommended for insulation milling of RF and Microwave circuitry. 1.42" (36 mm) overall length. Endmills include distance rings for "S" series systems and systems with automatic tool change.
Universal Milling tool: 100% Carbide universal milling tool for milling printed circuit board isolation tracks. V-shaped profile for variable milling width. 1.42" (36 mm) overall length. Milling tools include distance rings for "S" series systems and systems with automatic tool change.

Eagle Software Tutorial

Eagle Software and gerber file tutorial: This document is available as an overview for drawing schematic, generating PCB and gerber files. This document provides an overview of some of the function of Eagle Software such as designing a schematic, placing components, moving components and joining components to other components. Converting into a PCB, placing and moving components, routing and rerouting wiresi. Finally, generate gerber files for PCB manufacturing.
